# Jira

> Investigate Jira Cloud issues on assignment or mention, or auto-investigate new issues in a project.

**1. Connect**

Go to **Connections**, click **Connect** next to Jira, and authorize your Jira Cloud site.

**2. Choose projects**

On the **Triage** page, pick the projects Ordyn should watch.

## Permissions

Ordyn connects to Jira Cloud with OAuth. It asks for `read:jira-work`, `read:jira-user`, `write:jira-work`, `manage:jira-webhook` and `offline_access`; reconnect Jira from Connections if one is missing.

### Access

Read issues, post Ordyn's findings as comments, and hear about assignments, mentions and new issues.

| Scope | Used for |
| - | - |
| `read:jira-work` | Reading projects, issues and comments |
| `read:jira-user` | Resolving assignees and mentions |
| `write:jira-work` | Posting and editing Ordyn's comments |
| `manage:jira-webhook` | Registering the webhook that tells Ordyn about assignments, mentions and new issues |
| `offline_access` | Keeping the connection working without signing in again |

### Jira Service Management

Read and acknowledge Jira Service Management alerts. Only needed if you use Jira Service Management.

| Scope | Used for |
| - | - |
| `read:servicedesk-request` | Requested during OAuth consent; Ordyn does not currently call the Jira Service Management request APIs |
| `write:servicedesk-request` | Requested during OAuth consent; Ordyn does not currently call the Jira Service Management request APIs |
| `read:ops-alert:jira-service-management` | Reading Jira Service Management alerts |
| `write:ops-alert:jira-service-management` | Adding notes to and acknowledging those alerts |
| `read:ops-config:jira-service-management` | Setting up the integration that sends Jira Service Management alerts to Ordyn |
| `write:ops-config:jira-service-management` | Setting up the integration that sends Jira Service Management alerts to Ordyn |

* The Jira Service Management scopes are requested for every site, and Atlassian lists them on the consent screen even if you don't use Jira Service Management.

Permission catalog version `2026-10-16.1`. See [permission changes](/reference/permission-changes).

## Triggering an investigation

Assign an issue to Ordyn or mention it in a comment. Ordyn posts its findings as a comment.

## Auto-investigate

Turn on auto-investigate for a project on the **Triage** page to have Ordyn investigate every new issue, or only those matching your [keyword filters](/triage/alert-sources#keyword-filters).

Jira Cloud only. Jira Server and Data Center are not supported.
